1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom '54 Reissue w/hsc
The 1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom 1954 Reissue in ebony is a commanding presence—steeped in vintage soul and dressed in timeless elegance. Its deep black finish, framed by aged binding and worn-in charm, gives off an air of quiet authority, the kind that only comes with age and experience. Every detail, from the headstock to the carved top, reflects a reverence for the past while standing unapologetically bold. Made during a short run between 1972 and 1973, with only around 1,100 produced, this reissue carries a rare and unmistakable aura. It doesn’t shout—it resonates.
Body: Solid Mahogany with no Maple cap in original Ebony finish.
Neck: Mahogany neck (no volute) with a Ebony fingerboard, 24.75” scale length,1 11/16” nut width, 22 frets, Pearl Block inlays.
Pickups/Hardware: Original P-90 pickup in bridge and Staple V in the neck, non-original Gold Grover tuning keys, non-original 6-saddle bridge, original knobs and pointers, bone nut.
Modifications: This guitar has replaced tuners with added Gold Grover tuners. The guitar has an old re-fret with larger fret wire. The bridge is an old replacment most likely from the later 70’s. Bridge pickup was removed at one time but the original is now back in the guitar. Jack plate is non-original and has newer screws added. Strap buttons have been changed.
Cosmetics: This guitar is in good condition. It has light surface scratches and small indentations on the body. The back of the neck is clean, and the frets show some wear but are still tall with life. The back has some decent buckle rash. Overall, this guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in fair shape with some grooves and divots from use but it still plays beautifully up and down the fretboard.
Weight: 10 lbs. 7 oz.
Case: This guitar ships in an older non-original hardshell case, professionally packaged, and fully insured.
