Maybe The Real Treasure… is our collaboration with dear friend Alec Breslow of Mask Audio Electronics. Alec and I had an idea to put a couple of initially simple ideas together and the pedal grew in wild directions from there. It is an absolute and intricate collaboration from two fuzz fanatics. Equal parts Alec’s penchant for chaos and abrasive textures and my interest in putting more knobs and more flexibility and more chunk into everything. It looks like a BSRI pedal but the art and knobs are clear nods to Alec’s style. Maybe The Real Treasure… is a fuzz pedal for people who want ever more and louder. They want to push. They want S P L O D E. Maybe The Real Treasure… is a love letter to all the fuzzes we played along the way.

OK lets look at the controls because some of them are weird and do weird stuff when you turn them even though they do pretty normal stuff under the hood. We designed it that way and its all stuff that makes the pedal cool.

Loud - What it says on the box. Turn down for less volume. Turn up for more volume. There are areas in the middle where the volume is a lot but there is more or maybe too much but you could have less. Maybe your definition of loud is different than ours? We like our loud really loud.

Texture - Early-circuit tilt EQ stage to set the frequency balance going into the transformer stage. Think of this as kind of an overall voicing control that sets the feel and shape of the fuzz and alters how you interact with the pedal as a player. Higher settings will emphasize brighter harsher tones and lower settings will reward letting a longer note breathe and evolve into a sludgy wall of noise. Its a tone control but its not really a tone control. Its a texture control. Naming stuff is weird. Start with this one at noon and see what happens as you tweak.

Push - Interstage attenuator for controlling gain staging. Rolling this one back will tighten up the fuzz texture and bring it more into a controllable distortion vibe. Cranking it cascades a huge front end boosted octave circuit into the main fuzz stage which is A LOT to handle and gets things cooking fast. Start at max and roll back as needed.

Splode - Gain control in the main fuzz stage which is messy and really just not having a good day and that’s what we love about it. This is kind of an overall stability control where it’s somewhat controlled around noon and below and cranking it to max really dramatically changes what this pedal feels like to play. Splode and Push are interactive and you should spend a lot of time seeing how different settings between the two feel and react to your playing. Or just crank them both to max and strap in.

Depth - Boost-only 100 Hz EQ band for balancing the frequency response of the fuzz, shaking walls, destroying your amp, creating brutal bass fuzz, etc. Start at minimum and increase until you feel the fuzz in your soul.
