2020 D'Angelico Excel Style B Throwback

Summary: This 2020 D'Angelico Excel Style B Throwback has been reimagined for the first time since its debut. It’s a slimmed down non-cutaway archtop and time machine to the Jazz Age. A slim-C neck profile, shallow upper bout depth, and 25-inch scale length make the Style B Throwback a notably comfortable archtop while still maintaining robust acoustic tone. Old-school details and Throwback Collection appointments—including the scroll-style headstock designed by John D'Angelico in the 30s—make the Style B a visual stunner.

Body: Laminated Spruce top with Laminated Flame Maple back and sides  in Viola finish. 

Neck: 3 piece Maple/Walnut with an Ebony fingerboard, 24.75” scale length 1.68” nut width,  20 frets,  Mother of Pearl Full Fret Block inlays.

Pickups/Hardware: USA Seymour Duncan Johnny Smith Floating Mini-Humbucker pickup, Grover Super Rotomatic tuning keys,  Floating Ebony bridge, D’Angelico Stairstep tailpiece, 2 Mini-Hexagon knobs, Bone nut.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in great shape. It has light surface scratches on the body. The back of the neck is clean, and the frets show minimal wear. The back has ultra light buckle rash, only seen in reflection. Overall, this guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
