1988 Gibson ES-175D
This 1988 Gibson ES-175D is a beautiful example of the height of Gibson artisanship. The ES-175 debuted in 1949. With a comfortable body size and stylish pointed cutaway, it quickly became the most popular guitar of the jazz world. Binding on the top, back, and fretboard, combined with a trapeze tailpiece and parallelogram fretboard inlays, provides a big touch of class. Traditional Gibson design and 2 PAF humbuckers dish out huge helpings of tone.
Body: Maple top with Mahogany sides and back in Sunburst finish.
Neck: Solid Mahogany neck, solid Rosewood fingerboard, dual-parallelogram mother of pearl fingerboard inlay and thistle peghead inlay, triple bound top, bound back, 24.75” scale length, 1.68” nut width.
Pickups/Hardware: Gibson PAF style humbucking pickups and electronics, beveled 5-ply pickguard, gold bonnet knobs, Rosewood adjustable compensated bridge with chrome Tune-o-matic bridge, Grover Deluxe tulip key tuners, trapeze tailpiece with raised-parallelogram crossbar.
Cosmetics: This guitar is in good shape. It has surface scratches on the body, along with finish checking/crazing, good honest wear. The back of the neck is clean with some wear , and the frets show minimal wear. The neck s was professionally reglued and repaired, and is very stable. The back has buckle rash. Overall, this guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic.
Modifications: non-original Grover tuners, repaired neck, finish cracks
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable.
